If each newly hatched turtle
Knew the horrors of the sea
It would never have taken the plunge.
The shark with razor sharp teeth
Picking up creatures like a sponge.
The crashing waves,
The plastic straws,
All have been the cause
Of their demise
But had there been no plunge
They would certainly have died
Before their very first taste of brunch.
They risk it all for the salty sea
Knowing the horrors it may give,
They risk it all for the salty sea
Because they want to live.
So true! Insightful poem, Gabriella.
